As the space shuttle Endeavour made its way from LAX to a new permanent home at the California Science Center, it spent a few hours parked across the street from WISH Charter. Our students and families took advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get an up-close look at a national treasure.

WISH On Parade As the new school year comes into view, the word "freedom" can evoke many emotions. For those whose school voyage is just beginning, tears of joy are mixed with a touch of melancholy, while seasoned "vets" are embracing the chance for some "me" time. Celebrating the country's independence by marching together, side by side in the annual Westchester 4th of July parade was a great reminder of how fortunate we all are to live in a place where our freedom to choose has been protected and defended.
WISH EXTREME MAKEOVER Just when we thought WISH couldn't get any better, Alison Sideris and her band of beautificationers made it a work of art! The campus beautification continues this Saturday, August 11th so it's not too late to be part of the masterpiece. This now annual tradition is a also a great way to meet new parents, connect with old friends and feel a great sense of pride each time you walk through campus and see your personal contribution.

Students and families received a surprise announcement at the Talent Show- Bruno Mars and Fender have donated 27 ukuleles to the WISH music program for our students to learn to play!

Everyone's participation in the Race for Success at LMU really paid off! WISH Charter had the highest number of participants in the race, making our school the winner of the William H. Hannon Spirit Award and the corresponding $1,000 cash bonus!

Erika Higgins Ross, a parent from WISH Charter School, has been named the 2012 Hart Vision California Charter School Volunteer of the Year.
Some 1,500 parents, students, leaders and supporters from charter schools across California rallied on Wednesday afternoon at the State Capitol steps to demand better funding for the state's 982 charter schools. Included among them were WISH's Principal, Shawna Draxton.

WISH students are using an online program called IXL to learn grade level state standards in math, and having fun while doing it!
