WISH A Whole Scholar
Approach to Education

It's SOCKTOBER Time! This year we are aiming for 1,500 pairs!

It’s SOCK-TOBER
Tuesday, October 1st–Monday, November 4th

Tristan Ramella-Paia, now a 10th grader at WISH Academy, continues to shine as a Kidspiration superstar! His incredible commitment to helping Los Angeles' homeless population through Socktober is inspiring. Though socks may seem like a small item, they are crucial for preventing foot-related health issues and providing much-needed comfort during tough times.

Tristan’s Socktober initiative to collect and donate socks reflects his empathy and drive to make a positive difference for those less fortunate in our community.

A Goal of Kindness
Last year, the WISH community came together to collect an impressive
1,313 pairs of socks for the Saban Community Clinic. This year, Tristan has set a new goal—collecting 1,500 pairs of NEW, clean socks to benefit people in need. Tristan invites everyone to join this mission of kindness. Throughout October, you can contribute by dropping off new, unused socks at the school’s office or sending them with your child to their teacher or advisor. All sizes of socks are needed to meet the diverse needs of those experiencing homelessness. Collection boxes will be placed around the WISH campus for your convenience.

Support Youth Activism
Tristan’s dedication to this service-learning project highlights the power of youth activism and community involvement. Let’s rally behind Tristan and help him reach his goal. Together, we can show that small acts of kindness—like donating a pair of socks—can bring about meaningful change in our community.

About Saban Community Clinic
Founded in 1967, Saban Community Clinic provides essential medical, dental, and behavioral health services to more than 145,000 individuals each year, including those experiencing homelessness. With five locations in the Los Angeles and West Hollywood areas, the clinic also offers vital services such as free showers for those in need.

Why Socks Matter
Every night, approximately 600,000 people in the U.S. face homelessness, enduring harsh conditions and unmet basic needs. One of the most overlooked necessities is socks. Clean, warm socks help prevent health issues like infections and provide comfort during difficult times.

Surprisingly, socks are one of the least donated items of clothing. Socktober aims to change that by mobilizing people across the country. With a goal of 2 million participants, Socktober shows that even small gestures—like donating a pair of socks—can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors in need.

Together, let’s make a significant impact by addressing a simple but critical need: warm, clean socks.
