Message From The Principal
Welcome from Dr. Johnson, Principal - Grades 9-12
Greetings and welcome to WISH Academy High School. On behalf of our faculty, staff, and scholars, we are excited that you have shown an interest in our academic programs, clubs, competitive sports teams, and the overall exciting high school experience thriving at our school.
An education at WISH Academy focuses on each learner's individual potential. We strive to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences in an environment based on caring and belonging. With a collaborative team of educators, we are committed to inclusiveness, the development of social and ethical skills, and the notion that positive attitudes are created when scholars of various strengths, needs, beliefs, and backgrounds learn together. Our school community is dedicated to providing our scholars with a well-rounded educational experience. In addition to core curriculum standards, we believe graduates must be exposed to the benefits and collaborative innovations of project-based learning, leadership opportunities, and technologies that will prepare our scholars for college entry and success and the college completion of a four-year program.
Students will have the opportunity to engage in pathway courses aligned to their interests, including the PLTW Engineering and BioMedical coursework, Visual and Performing Arts classes, and the Liberal Arts/Civics pathway courses. This approach scaffolds student learning through structured activities and projects that empower scholars to become independent in the classroom and build skillsets focused on problem-solving. As they continue, internships and work experience will prepare them to use this curriculum to prepare for college and universities.
We also have a lot of fun together and believe in the power of extra-curricular activities to open new doors to self-discovery. Each year more than 30 clubs, programs, and specialty classes are offered, along with more than a dozen sports programs competing in the CIF League. Through these offerings, students can cultivate favorite or newly found passions to learn invaluable leadership lessons, time management, organization, and the importance of teamwork on sports teams, performing arts groups, clubs, and service projects. After browsing through our site, please reach out if you have any questions.
Again, welcome to WISH Academy High School.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Johnson, Ed.D.
